Dovecote - Hellens, Herefordshire

We have been working on various projects at Hellens Manor House, Much Marcle over the last 10 years.  Every building at Hellens is rich in history and we are very fortunate to work there.

The repair of the 17th Century octagonal Dovecote was a project at Hellens that we undertook in 2007.  The building was re-roofed, keeping the existing tile pattern.  Where needed, the building was re-pointed in lime mortar.  An oak floor was reinstated to re-create the first floor and natural light was allowed in by glazing the lantern at the top.

The Dovecote has been gently repaired to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. The first image below shows the building before restoration. The remainder show the results of our work.
