2010 sees us working on an interesting mix of projects to a range of listed buildings.
Our main projects for 2010 are the repair of a stable block and three farmhouses. In early 2010 we will complete the repair phase of the stable block, including its re-roof in new welsh slate.
We will then cross the border into Wales and re-roof a 16th century farmhouse; extending the rafters to one elevation to increase the overhang, fitting insulating boards and sheepswool to the roof, re-slating, fitting conservation rooflights, lime mortar pointing to chimney stacks and fixing new cast iron rainwater gutters and downpipes. This project is particularly time-sensitive as the house is home to a roost of bats. We will be working closely with the project ecologist to ensure that we minimise any disturbance to the roost and comply with the licence for the works issued by the Welsh Assembly Government.
Having completed the external repairs to a stunning, Georgian, eight bedroomed farmhouse in 2009, we are delighted to be carrying out the internal repairs in 2010. This project involves re-ordering of rooms, joinery repairs, lime plaster repairs, new bookcases to library, full re-wire and re-plumbing.
Later in 2010 we will commence work on the full restoration of a Herefordshire farmhouse.
